Goal:
Find fractions of whole numbers e.g. 3/4 of 24= ____ . 3/4 of 21=___


1. 3/4 of 16= 12
2. 4/5 of 30= 25
3. 1/3of 15=  5
4. 3/5 of 55= 33

I think i did well on speed e.g. getting the answer fast
I think i did well with getting the idea of how to do fractions like this
I think I could work on knowing divisibility rules to make it easier

Maths Week

In this photo I tried drawing a mirror image of an owl, I think I did quite well except the eye because i couldn't get the exact shape.

I was asked to make a tessellation and I started with only the yellow and blue shapes but added the red and made it pop.
We were asked to make a tessellation with chalk and I did a a Square and triangle type pattern.

We made a huge marble run but sometimes it was lopsided and wobbly so we changed it a bit to a more stable piece, I did the marble run with Olivia, Lauren, Sophie and Mekeila. But it was destroyed before we could get an Ipad.

Level 3 Learning Outcomes:

- be aware of the type of data each display is appropriate for and the kind of pattern/relationship it best
communicates.
- link others’ claims with the appropriateness of displays used.


WALT: Sort data into categories


Wiremu is allowed to choose a pet for his birthday. He decides to find out what pets his classmates have.
He gives each classmate a blank data card, asks them to list any pets they have, and collects the cards.
With a classmate, discuss Wiremu’s data. Which information is necessary? Which information is unnecessary?
Which data is difficult to interpret?





Make a comment on one piece of data from above:


Unnecessary group (why is it unnecessary?): because it doesn't really matter to the question


Hard to interpret group  (why is it hard to interpret?): Because it doesn't make sense


WALT: Interpret and communicate findings about data


The class next door did a similar survey to the one above but they were asked to name their favourite pet.
The results are shown on this tally chart and then presented on the bar graph:










Write three statements that interpret the data shown above:


  1. Cats are the most liked


  1.  guinea pigs are the least liked


  1.  Dogs are 6 behind cats


Discuss with a classmate which graph (bar graph or pie graph) you would prefer to use to show the information and
why?
A bar graph because it has numbers and shapes that make it easier and exact

What is the mean of the data above? (Show your working)
12+6+8+4=30 divided by 4 = 7.5

Personal Reflection:

I find sorting data ….. rather easy because of all the numbers that make it easier
